Modern Slavery Statement

This modern slavery statement is voluntarily made by Healthspan, and sets out the steps Healthspan has taken to ensure that that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in our supply chains or any part of our business.

Introduction

Modern slavery is often a hidden crime, which can take many forms such as servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking. It violates fundamental human rights and is an international crime affecting millions of people worldwide. In the UK traffickers and organised criminals are seeking opportunities to exploit the industry by exploiting vulnerable individuals from both overseas and the UK.

Healthspan opposes slavery and human trafficking and will never knowingly conduct business with suppliers or employees who engage in such practice. Healthspan undertakes to remunerate employees at or above the minimum wage specified for that area of the world in which Healthspan is conducting business, including through our suppliers. Healthspan regularly reviews our business and suppliers with the aim to support the prevention of slavery and human trafficking.

Organisational Structure & Supply Chains

Healthspan Ltd. is a Guernsey based direct retailer of Healthspan branded products to the UK, EU and New Zealand. In February 2022 Healthspan was acquired as a portfolio company by Orkla Health. Healthspan products are contract manufactured and sourced from around the world, using approved suppliers who must satisfy criteria assessments in both Quality and Code of Conduct.

Policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking

As an Orkla portfolio company, Healthspan adheres to Orkla’s principles on good corporate governance and supplier approval. Orkla is committed to respecting human and labour rights in our supply chains. Through our sourcing we have an opportunity to positively contribute to the lives of the many people in our supply chains. The Orkla Human and Labour Rights Policy and the Orkla Supplier Code of Conduct outline our commitments and our expectations of our suppliers. All human rights must be respected, and particular action taken to prevent unacceptable violations of human rights, such as child labour and forced labour.

Due Diligence

Healthspan shall:

  • Actively monitor and reduce the risk of violating human and labour rights in the supply chain by adherence to our supplier approval program and, where required/relevant audits.
  • Work with suppliers and other partners to establish responsible business practices where required.
  • Carry out a specific assessment of the risk of child labour, forced labour and other unacceptable practices in the supply chain.
  • Implement preventive measures and take action to stop and remediate such practices if identified.

Training

Healthspan has incorporated anti-slavery and human trafficking, as well as whistleblowing statements into our staff handbook; the terms of which staff members are expected to be aware of and to comply with. The need for additional training in this area is considered on a case-by-case basis following management and staff appraisal covering the training requirement for each employee.

This statement has been approved by Healthspan Ltd in June 2023.
